Attorney Profile
Mr. Sheehan, a 1973 graduate of the University of Michigan School of Law, is a Director and Shareholder of Sheehan, Sheehan & Stelzner, P. A., where he has practiced since 1974. He heads the firm's construction law practice and teaches construction law as an adjunct professor at the University of New Mexico School of Law and Department of Civil Engineering. During his more than three decades of practice, Mr. Sheehan has successfully represented a broad array of construction industry clients, including construction managers, general contractors, subcontractors, owners, design professionals, the State of New Mexico and various construction industry trade associations. He regularly represents clients in cases involving construction claims, bidding and procurement issues, construction liens, delay damage claims, Miller Act claims, governmental regulation of the construction industry, contract interpretation and construction failures. Mr. Sheehan is the author of a treatise entitled Construction Law in New Mexico, which provides members of the construction industry and lawyers with a comprehensive overview of construction law in the State. In addition, he is an experienced mediator and arbitrator. Mr. Sheehan is a member of the American Arbitration Association's Construction Industry Arbitration Panel for complex construction law matters, and a fellow of the American College of Construction Lawyers. He is also a member of the Construction Industry Forum and the Public Contracts Section of the American Bar Association, and the Associated General Contractors of New Mexico. Mr. Sheehan holds an AV rating from Martindale Hubbell, and is recognized in Southwest Super Lawyers in the area of construction law.
